The Dazzling Lights of Christmas Tree Lane
December 05, 2017
One of the great joys of spending the holiday season in West Hollywood is the mild weather. Unlike our New England friends, we won’t be shoveling our cars out from under six feet of snow anytime soon. Still, we know that many of our guests are nostalgic for that traditional Christmas ambience, which is why we’re happy to report that a twinkling yuletide wonderland is within easy driving distance of our hotel. Christmas Tree Lane, located along a 0.7-mile stretch of Santa Rosa Avenue in nearby Altadena, is an annual tradition dating back to 1920. The magnificent deodar cedar trees that comprise Christmas Tree Lane were originally planted in 1883, when John P. Woodbury, the founder of Altadena, returned from Italy with a handful of seeds. Each December the towering trees are decorated with a dazzling display of holiday lights. Take a ride down to Altadena to get yourself in the Christmas spirit. We’ll have the perfect holiday cocktail ready for you when you return.
