Plan A Getty Getaway
October 14, 2015
When you're planning your next trip to West Hollywood, considering tacking on an extra day for in-depth exploration of the world-renowned Getty Center. Located just a 20 minute drive of our West Hollywood hotel, the sprawling 110-acre site is perched on a hilltop, affording stunning views of both Los Angeles and the Pacific Ocean. One of Los Angeles' premier attractions, the Center is home to the Getty Museum, which features a breathtaking collection of American and European paintings, drawings, illuminated manuscripts and decorative arts; as well as outdoor sculpture tucked on terraces and in gardens including Robert Irwin's magnificent Central Garden.
Beyond its permanent collections, visitors will find an array of fascinating exhibits at this popular Los Angeles museum, including two new ones that focus on food's place in history: "The Edible Monument: The Art of Food for Festivals" and "Eat, Drink and Be Merry: Food in the Middle Ages and the Renaissance," on view through March 13 and January 3, respectively. Afterwards, head back to the Grafton on Sunset and raise a toast to modern day wining and dining.
