L.A.’s Very Own Oktoberfest

October 07, 2017

German beer glass next to can of beer on leather stand

Oktoberfest is the traditional German celebration that, since its inception in 1810, has brought Bavarians out in their best Dirndls and Lederhosen to imbibe top-notch beer and the most indulgent dishes in all of Deutschland. But you don’t have to be in Bavaria to enjoy the thrilling cultural extravaganza. From now through October 28, this Alpine festival will be rocking on at the aptly named Alpine Village in nearby Torrence, California. At forty minutes from our hotel, it’s a bit of drive, but if you’re a beer connoisseur or lover of bratwurst, bratkartoffeln, sausage, or sauerkraut, then you’ll definitely be glad you made the trip. With exuberant parties planned each weekend, the 21+ crowd will want to journey down after 5 P.M. on Fridays or 6 P.M. on Saturdays, while folks in search of family fun will prefer the Sunday festivities. So toss the steins in the car, and cruise on down to one of the most acclaimed cultural celebrations on the planet.
