A Night at the Movies: The Last Remaining Seats
June 03, 2017
If you’re feeling a bit wistful this June, the LA Conservancy’s Last Remaining Seats series has just what you need to indulge that sultry summer nostalgia. Established thirty years ago to raise awareness of the city’s many historic theaters, Last Remaining Seats (LRS) brings together visitors and longtime residents alike to enjoy classic Hollywood films the way they were meant to be seen. This summer’s shows include Marlon Brando in On the Waterfront, Otto Preminger’s classic film noir Laura, and Steven Spielberg’s blockbuster hits Jaws and E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial. LRS is more than just a film series, though. It’s a fully immersive experience, featuring backstage tours before every screening, free pub trivia on Saturdays, film history lectures, and more. The seven historic theaters hosting the events are the Orpheum, the Los Angeles Theatre, the Million Dollar Theatre, The Palace Theatre, The Theatre at Ace Hotel, and the Warner Grand. Each of these is just a short drive from the Grafton Hotel.
