A Fat Tuesday Extravaganza at West Hollywood’s Iconic Amoeba Music
February 05, 2018
Mardi Gras is nearly upon us, and if you’re looking for a family-friendly way to celebrate this year, we highly recommend the festivities at Amoeba Music, Hollywood’s biggest independent record store, which will be hosting its annual Fat Tuesday celebration on Tuesday, February 13. The event officially kicks off at 3 P.M., with D.J. Bennett spinning. At 4 folks will line up to make some noise in the Mardi Gras Parade, complete with beads, bongos, and klaxons a-blaring. Bring your best party mask, a drum, a horn, a tambourine, whatever you’d like to join in the cacophonous merry-making. Best of all, part of the proceeds from the event will be donated to two charities devoted to preserving and promoting the vibrant cultural and musical traditions of New Orleans. Tipitina’s Foundation aims to instill in the youth of New Orleans a love for their great city’s music through partnerships with local schools, after-school music programs, and special workshops. The New Orleans Musicians’ Clinic is dedicated to caring for the mental and physical health of the city’s many aging performers.
